This is the image for the news article titled 5th grade- Meadowlands tripOur 5th-grade students went on a field trip to the Meadowlands Environmental Center. As part of our Environmental Science unit, students were able to learn about the New York / New Jersey Harbor Estuary Region. Students not only learned about the Harbor Estuary Program, they also had the opportunity to become estuary explorers.  We were able to collect organisms using nets, and all students were able to either catch a fish, shrimp, or larva. Students were able to see organisms caught that were not visible to the human eye. We then were able to see these organisms when we returned to the classroom and Miss Coryn our tour guide taught us all about microscopes.  Our adventure concluded with a scavenger hunt which reinforced all that we learned throughout the day.
